The Royal Australian Mint has rolled out a new coin collection to mark the 100-year anniversary of the RAAF.

A new collection of special edition coins was launched by the Royal Australian Mint on Thursday (4 March) in recognition of the Royal Australian Air Force’s 100 years of service.
The collection was designed in collaboration with the RAAF, showcasing its illustrious history.
“Through our coin releases, the Mint aims to commemorate significant events, anniversaries and organisations that are meaningful to the Australian people,” the Mint’s CEO, Leigh Gordon, AO, CSM, said.
“Over the last century, the Royal Australian Air Force has made a significant impact on Australia and the Australian way of life.”
The launch ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief of Air Force, Air Vice-Marshal Stephen Meredith AM, DSM, who said the coin series traces the evolution of technological advancements in air power.
“The Royal Australian Mint coin sets are a fitting way to honour the service and sacrifice of past and present members who have contributed to our growth making us the potent world class Air Force we are today as we look forward to continuing to evolve into the future,” he added.
Specifically, the collection presents 11 2021 'Coloured Uncirculated Coins', which feature a different aircraft on each coin.
Aircraft featured on the coins include the first aircraft, the S.E.A5, and the latest edition to the RAAF, the F-35A Joint Strike Fighter.
The collection also features an exclusive commemorative coin, which pays tribute to the 350,000 RAAF personnel who have served over the last century.
The RAAF will officially celebrate its 100-year anniversary on 31 March.
