The federal government has pledged an additional $1.4 million in funding to organisations that support Australian Defence Force families under the Family Support Funding Program.
Minister for Defence Personnel Darren Chester outlined that the Family Support Funding Program will enhance and expand the support currently given to defence families.
“Families play an important role in the Defence community and these grants will help the recipients deliver community projects such as health and wellbeing workshops, recreational and resilience programs, art and cultural activities and more targeted projects supporting post-traumatic stress disorder and the special needs community,” Minister Chester said.
“Grants are awarded to not-for-profit incorporated community groups that can deliver activities and services to Defence families, to help them engage with their local communities, support their wellbeing and share information and ideas that help them manage the demands of military life, such as the impact of frequent postings and deployments.
“I congratulate the 41 grant recipients and thank them for all they do for the Defence community and encourage any organisation supporting Defence families to review the guidelines and submit an application for future rounds.”
The Family Support Funding Program will be overseen by the Defence Community Organisation.
