It was revealed this week that the UK-based consulting and intelligence company has appointed Stuart Jackson as managing director of the newly incorporated Australian EWS Asia Pacific, with the new managing director tasked with overseeing the company’s government, defence and security clients.
The announcement comes following the establishment of the company’s Australian office in the beginning of August.
Jackson begins his role having worked for 38 years across defence, communications, intelligence, surveillance and electronic warfare, having worked in the British & Australian Armies.
Jackson retired from active service in 2012 transferring to the Reserves, while managing his own businesses.
“I am thrilled to not only join EWS Ltd. but also to be given the opportunity to take up the position of managing director of EWS (AP),” Jackson said.
“EWS Ltd. is globally renowned for the quality and breadth of its skills and services to governments, defence and security teams and the challenge of establishing and growing its Asia Pacific presence is one that I could not refuse.”
The new appointment is expected to support EWS’s continued expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.
“We think it’s vital for the future of citizens and communities across Asia Pacific that we help to build a sovereign capability that is proactive rather than reactive. Stu’s wealth of experience in this area will help us build collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships within the defence, intelligence and security communities across the region,” John Gower, chief executive of EWS, said.
EWS incorporated their Australian-based offering in August, announcing that the new managing director will take his post from 1 September.
“Our specialist teams have been providing vendor-neutral consultancy, intelligence and training support to governments, defence and security teams dealing with global threats, counter terrorism and near-peer conflict since 2009,” Gower said.
“Incorporating in Australia with EWS (AP) is a natural step forward for us, providing the Group with a strong foundation to develop a team of specialists, centred on Australia, with reach across the whole Asia-Pacific region.”
