Veterans SA has released its inaugural Strategic Outlook, which identifies key priorities for the organisation across the next 10 years — shaping data-informed policy, empowering community, promoting inclusion and honouring service.
This aims to ensure that outcomes meet the needs and expectations of the veteran community in South Australia, with the group expected to facilitate further opportunities for consultation in 2022 to reinforce the new agenda.
“The Veterans SA Strategic Outlook outlines the commitment that our agency has made to securing the foundations for a strong, vibrant, well-supported and represented veteran community in South Australia,” Veterans SA director Chantelle Bohan said.
“Our 10-year strategy was developed following consultation with the South Australian veteran community, ex-service organisations and interested members of the public.
“We are confident that the key outcome areas that were identified through the consultation process are inclusive of the diverse needs of South Australian veterans at every stage and we are excited to continue supporting our community through the aims and actions we have planned for the next 12 months.”
The release of the new strategy follows Veterans SA's visit to the Riverland in regional South Australia, aimed at connecting the local community with its support services.
The visit was organised in partnership with local councils and organisations, including Australian Partners of Defence (APOD), the Legacy Club of South Australia & Broken Hill, Open Arms, the Partners of Veterans’ Association, Plympton Veterans’ Centre, RSL South Australia and Soldier On.
The program included a Veterans Wellbeing Workshop, presented by RSL Care.
