Eve Urban Air Mobility unveiled a swathe of new business agreements this week, seeking to broaden the company’s urban air mobility (UAM) networks.
Among the agreements, Eve had entered into a business combination agreement with Zanite Acquisition Corp, which will see Zanite change its name to Eve Holding, Inc. It is expected that the entity will list on the New York Stock Exchange under EVEX and EVEXW.
According to a release from Embraer, Embraer S.A. holds an 82 per cent equity in Eve Holdings, with Embraer S.A. itself a subsidiary of Embraer Aircraft Holdings, Inc.
In addition to the announcement, BAE Systems and Embraer have also committed to looking into defence variants of the company’s eVTOL aircraft, while Eve and SkyWest confirmed a partnership that is expected to deliver a regional operator network with an order for 100 Eve eVTOL aircraft.
Meanwhile, Eve and Azorra entered into a partnership for 200 Eve eVTOLs, while Eve and Republic Airways committed to entering a partnership for a regional operator network with up to 200 eVTOL aircraft expected to be delivered.
“We believe that the urban air mobility market has enormous potential to expand in the coming years based on an efficient, zero-emissions transport proposition, and that with this business combination, Eve is very well positioned to become one of the major players in this segment,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, president and CEO of Embraer.
“As a global aerospace company, with leadership position in multiple segments, we understand that innovation and technology play a strategic role in driving sustainable growth and redefining the future of aviation.”
Kenn Ricci, co-CEO of Zanite and principal of Directional Aviation Capital, a member of Zanite’s sponsor, said, “The Zanite team is extremely proud to partner with Eve and Embraer in this transaction. After an extensive search, we selected Eve because of its simple and certifiable eVTOL design, its capital efficient approach to fleet operations and Embraer’s global footprint that we believe will enable Eve to not only reach vehicle type certification, but to scale its manufacturing, support and operations globally.”
