Glenn Copeland has been confirmed as the new general manager of the Lockheed Martin Canada business unit, overseeing the organisation's 850 employee-strong business unit that develops naval systems integrations and combat management systems.

Prior to his appointment as general manager, Copeland worked across the Lockheed Martin business, including in integrated warfare systems and sensors in Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation. He was also employed as well as director, business development in the training and logistics unit of Lockheed Martin Canada RMS.

“I am thrilled that Glenn is the new general manager of Lockheed Martin Canada Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS),” Gary Fudge, Lockheed Martin Canada RMS' outgoing general manager, said.

“As I head into retirement, I wish him and the company all the best. I’m sure that he will enjoy the continued success and support from the corporation in taking this business to the next level.”

Before his career in Lockheed Martin Canada, Copeland served as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, leading the Navy’s Fleet Readiness and Training Team and also served as an operations officer for the Sea Training Atlantic Group as well as an executive officer of HMCS St John’s.

“It is an honour to step into the role of general manager, Lockheed Martin Canada RMS. I look forward to working with our government and industry partners and leading our extraordinary RMS employees as they deliver the highest quality solutions to our customer’s complex challenges,” Copeland said.

In early December, Robert Lightfoot was named as Lockheed Martin’s new executive vice-president, Space, effective from 1 January 2022.

Lightfoot, who currently serves as the vice-president of operations for Lockheed Martin Space, held several senior leadership positions at NASA over a 29-year period.

During his tenure at NASA, Lightfoot supported space operations, exploration and science missions, including as the agency's acting administrator; director of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama; and director of Propulsion Test at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
