The Defence Materials Technology Centre’s business model has been given the tick of approval, with independent verification granting them ISO Certification.

Certex has now independently verified that DMTC has met the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Standard in the organisation's approach to the business of facilitating collaboration with industry and research partners.
DMTC chief executive Mark Hodge said the certification goes a long way in showing how seriously the DMTC takes its quality.
“It’s a demonstration of our commitment to managing technology development programs in the most effective, efficient way we can," said Hodge.
"It is a journey that we’ve been on for a number of years now. Along with our existing continuous improvement program, it benchmarks our program management and business systems clearly and transparently.
"All our partners can have confidence that our focus remains in delivery of practical, tangible outcomes for Defence capability and for the defence industrial sector."
Hodge said the accreditation is a result of the organisation's engagement with the Centre for Defence Industry Capability's (CDIC) Supplier Continuous Improvement Program (SCIP), which DMTC started with in 2012.
"Our engagement with the CDIC’s continuous improvement mentoring and benchmarking program (known as SCIP) was a significant factor in us gaining this accreditation. The SCIP program is structured in a way that maps really consistently across to the ISO quality framework," Hodge said.
"The ISO benchmark is a highly regarded, international and genuinely independent, validation of our systems and processes. Our Defence customer puts a high value on it, our industry partners likewise, and so do we. It’s a great credit to the whole DMTC community and particularly the head office team.
"Impactful R&D outcomes rarely happen by accident. They come from and through discipline and excellent management practices. For DMTC, this is about an ongoing pursuit of greater efficiency in our systems, with a focus on enhanced outcomes for our Defence customer and adding value to our industry and research partners through adoption of cutting edge technology. We want to see value and beneficial outcomes for Australia’s defence industrial sector in Australia, and that’s where there is the real synergy with what the Defence Innovation Hub has been set up to do.
“To come at this another way, it’s worth noting that the whole idea of accreditation isn’t just the 'tick in the box' – it’s about helping organisations to be more efficient and improve customer satisfaction. In that context, the better question of me as a CEO would have been 'Why don’t you have it?'"
