Beca has announced its receipt of a 12-month extension to support the Directorate of Estate and Land Management (DELM) in implementing and maintaining an assurance program designed to improve the serviceability of the Defence estate.
Specifically, the work aims to improve Defence’s estate investment strategy to support effective whole of life asset management, through development and implementation of the Capability Life Cycle Estate Asset Management Framework.
The program was recently expanded to include Land Management Assurance.
Beca is expected to leverage its internal planning experience to determine compliance of a number of land management functions, including biosecurity, bushfire management, water management and contamination.
The work will be supported by objective assessment of maintenance interventions completed by the EMOS contractor, ensuring they meet legislative and Defence requirements.
The program forms part of the Defence Estate Strategy 2016-36 Aims and Priorities for the DELM, which include creating a fit for purpose estate that best enables capability and operations, is safe, secure, and compliant, and ensuring risks are understood and managed.
David Barter, business director of defence and national security at Beca, welcomed the contract extension.
“We’ve been proudly supporting the Defence Estate Strategy 2016-36 as a capability partner now, for more than eight years,” he said.
“This is the third time we’ve been awarded this work, which we believe is in recognition of the strong partnership approach we have taken to delivering the Estate Maintenance and Operation Support (EMOS) Assurance Audit program, and the overall reduction of non-compliances across the Estate as a result.
“This has been delivered through coordination and teamwork between Defence, Beca and each of the EMOS contractors to support Defence’s strategic objectives and overall availability of key assets.”
