Soldier On and its foundation partner, Boeing Australia, have jointly established a national mentoring program for veterans and their family members.
The Soldier On Boeing Mentoring Program, which launched yesterday (14 February) on Soldier On’s website, aims to provide structural support to veterans and their families as they transition into civilian life.
This includes specialised support for career changes, progression and planning, skill development, and professional networking.
As part of the program, participants will be selectively matched with Soldier On Pledge Partner employees, who will mentor the participant for the duration of the program.
Working alongside their mentor, participants will set personal or career development goals and strategise to help achieve their targets.
The program is flexible, tailoring to the bespoke needs of individual participants.
Applicants are now open, with the first round of the mentoring program scheduled to run for 11 weeks from 14 March to 27 May.
Dr Brendan Nelson AO, president of Boeing Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, welcomed the opportunity to participate and further develop the company’s relationship with the veteran community.
“We value the skills and contributions of former service personnel, and this program is a fantastic way to support veterans as they transition to a life out of uniform into civilian roles, where their professionalism, loyalty and experience can be meaningfully applied,” he said.
“As a large employer of veterans, many of our employees have first-hand experience of the challenges faced when re-entering the workforce and are committed to empowering others.”
Soldier On CEO Ivan Slavich noted the importance of the newly established mentoring program for the veteran community.
“The impact quality mentoring can have for a transitioning veteran is significant. Partnering with Boeing Australia to deliver this powerful program, expands access to the knowledge, experience and guidance of leaders in their varied fields of expertise,” he said.
“We expect both mentors and mentees will cement valuable relationships and both will be enriched through the experience. This will enable more veterans and their family members to thrive.”
