Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia has entered into a contract with Collins Aerospace to provide portable optronics solutions as part of the LAND 17 Phase 2 Digital Terminal Control Systems (DTCS) Capability Assurance Program.

According to a Safran spokesperson, upon delivery Collins Aerospace will integrate Safran’s JIM Compact, Moskito TI and Sterna systems, as well as their accompanying tripods, into Defence’s future DTCS.
It is expected that the engagement will be completed by mid-2023.
“We’re very proud to deliver our suite of optronic systems to the ADF,” Michael Hall, head of sales and marketing at Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia said.
“This contract marks an important milestone for Safran Electronics & Defense, expanding our footprint for portable optronics and allowing the ADF to discover Sterna’s unrivalled capabilities. We look forward to continuing our long standing and productive relationship with Collins Aerospace.”
Of the products being delivered to the ADF, Safran’s Sterna “gyro-based” acquisition system is designed to locate true north across a multitude of terrains including in GPS-denied environments and during times of battlefield interference.
