The pair have been tapped by the Department of Defence to deliver the planning phase of the Australian Defence Force’s proposed Riverina Redevelopment Program.
The planning phase, delivered in a 50/50 joint venture with integrated services solutions company Downer, is tipped to generate revenue of $30 million for CPB Contractors.
The proposed Riverina Redevelopment Program incorporates:
- RAAF Base Wagga Redevelopment;
- Albury-Wodonga Military Area Redevelopment; and
- Kapooka Military Area Redevelopment.
The estimated $1.1 billion of works over five years, subject to government and parliamentary approvals, are expected to include the delivery of:
- new or upgraded accommodation;
- upgrades to training facilities;
- consolidating and upgrading communal facilities; and
- remediation works and upgrades to infrastructure services.
The planning phase is scheduled to commence this year before being completed in late 2023.
“We are pleased to be selected to progress the large-scale redevelopment of these important Defence facilities, in support of Defence capability for the next 30 years,” CIMIC Group CEO Juan Santamaria said
“CPB Contractors has more than 20 years of experience working with Defence and will work collaboratively with the Department to further develop the program efficiently and to schedule.”
CPB Contractors managing director Jason Spears said the company would leverage its experience delivering major projects in regional Australia.
“As well as contributing our technical and engineering expertise, we’ll work closely with the Department of Defence to maximise opportunities for local communities and the regional economy to benefit from this project,” Spears said.
