A diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is essential, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel Matt Keogh noted, to bolster Defence’s capability and effectiveness.

“The program provides Defence access to a pool of talented people in our communities, providing them with meaningful employment within Defence.

“This initiative highlight’s the Albanese government’s commitment to building a capable and diverse workforce.

“We know that finding a job and building a career is really important to many people with disability,” Minister Keogh said.

DAAP teams have effectively integrated into local Defence bases since the program began in 2014 and have demonstrated a high capacity to undertake a variety of administrative tasks to support the Defence mission.

Established in 1951, the Endeavour Foundation is an independent, for purpose organisation with a vision to support people with an intellectual disability via helping with the provision of equal access to education and life skills learning. Currently the Queensland-based organisation is focused on “ability, dreams, goals and potential”. Endeavour collaborates with clients to work on the possibilities and then collaborating together to make them happen.

“We strive to deliver a quality service by embedding safeguards and a human rights framework into all we do,” Endeavour Foundation states on its website.

“The work these teams are undertaking to support Defence personnel, providing administrative services, is invaluable and provides employees with an opportunity to learn and develop their own skills for future career prospects,” Minister Keogh added.

“I would like to thank the previous DAAP contactors for their significant contributions to Defence.” 

The program is set to employ approximately 105 full-time equivalent positions at Defence sites across Australia.
