Newly appointed Minister for Science Melissa Price and the opposition’s shadow minister for industry and innovation Ed Husic are expected to deliver their vision for co-operative research, science, tech and innovation at this year’s Collaborate Innovate conference.
During the conference, beginning on 19 October, Minister Price is expected to provide greater insight into the Commonwealth government’s plan for Cooperative Research Centres, and how industry can co-operate to support yet further scientific innovation.
Meanwhile, event organisers have indicated that Husic is scheduled to speak at the conference on 20 October.
According to a release from the Conference, the current line up of speakers include:
• Professor Bronwyn Fox, chief scientist, CSIRO
• Jeff Connolly, CEO, Siemens Australia
• HE Victoria Treadell, British high commissioner
• Edwin Chow, assistant CEO, Enterprise Singapore
• Professor Mariana Mazzucato, Professor in the Economics of Innovation and Public Value at University College London (UCL)
• Dr Katherine Woodthorpe AO (2021 Ralph Slatyer Address)
The conference is also expected to be joined by three chief scientists, including:
• Dr Cathy Foley, chief scientist of Australia
• Professor Caroline McMillan, chief scientist of South Australia
• Professor Hugh Possingham, Queensland Chief Scientist
