The CEO is a veteran of the Royal Australian Air Force, serving in Afghanistan, the Middle East and Timor-Leste.

“He will continue to provide the stability and leadership that he has brought to our organisation and communities since beginning the role last year,” RSL Queensland state president, Major General Stephen Day DSC, AM said.

“The leaders of our organisation will play a critical role in setting the tone for our organisation and team by leading with humility, purpose and always operating with the highest understanding and empathy for people.

“Robert’s commercial and service experience, understanding and insight into the needs of veterans and their families, and his contribution to delivering improved outcomes and quality of life, is second to none.”

MAJGEN Day said Skoda is well placed for the role, noting his experience across personal services, business and veterans’ affairs.

“These attributes make him the ideal person to continue driving our organisation forward into the future,” he added.

Skoda welcomed the opportunity to continue leading the organisation.

“I am incredibly passionate about RSL Queensland and the pivotal role we play serving the needs of all members, veterans and their families,” he said.

“Acting as interim CEO for the past four months has enabled me to lay a strong foundation for how RSL Queensland will evolve and grow into the future to further improve the services and support we provide.”

Skoda assumed the position as permanent CEO on 11 February.
