The US Army Contracting Command has placed a new $84.9 million order with Oshkosh Defense.

The Detroit Arsenal order requests additional Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) from the American industrial company and continues an existing 2015 contract for the vehicles.
JLTVs are used for general purpose, heavy gun carrier, and close combat weapon carrier missions. Each unit features independent suspension, blast protected seats, automatic fire protection systems, and scalable crew protection system as well as being a helicopter, aircraft, and amphibious transportable.
Oshkosh Defense joint programs vice-president and general manager George Mansfield said the order for JLTVs is the company’s third in two months, with a combined value of $730 million and more than 2,000 JLTVs for nine buyers.
“Since winning the JLTV contract in 2015, Oshkosh has been committed to providing the US Military with the most capable light tactical vehicle ever built,” he said.
“Having recently completed production of the 19,000th JLTV, we are confident that Oshkosh remains the most efficient and reliable choice for producing JLTVs for many years to come.”
