Taiwan has confirmed the development of two prototypes of 105mm-wheeled armoured vehicles to meet the requirements of the Army.

The vehicles are undergoing testing and are yet to enter mass production, according to a public statement issued by the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China earlier this month.
The Manufacturing Center of the Armaments Bureau is currently working on a 105mm-wheeled armour vehicle research project running from 2018 to 2023. During this period, two prototypes of vehicles are going to be developed, a Ministry of National Defense spokesperson said.
“The 105mm-wheeled armour vehicle has already passed the (research and development) evaluation and meets the requirements of the Army.
“The shooting accuracy and stability of such vehicles have also been verified as above the required standards, and the initial operational test and evaluation is scheduled for April to July this year.
“Since the 105mm-wheel armour vehicle is a major achievement of indigenous national defence, the (manufacturing) centre will work to manage new requirements from the Army and develop armour vehicles for mass-production after passing initial operational test and evaluation stage.”
The fighting vehicles are reportedly based on the CM-32 Clouded Leopard infantry fighting vehicle to replace US-supplied M113 armoured personnel carriers and Humvees.
