Israel-based international defence company Elbit Systems has been engaged to supply a battalion of 155mm truck-mounted howitzer artillery for an unnamed international customer.
The contract involves Elbit’s autonomous truck mounted Howitzer system (ATMOS) and is valued at around $102 million, according to a public statement released on 18 April.
The ATMOS modular artillery system is capable of firing all NATO-certified 155mm projectiles to a range of 40 kilometres or extended ranges with rocket-assisted rounds.
It’s designed for rapid deployment and the ATMOS towed version is capable of a 30-second, three-round burst.
The contract will be performed over the next eight years, according to Elbit Systems land general manager Yehuda Vered.
“Elbit Systems’ comprehensive integrated artillery solutions provide a valuable competitive edge to the ground forces of our customers around the world,” he said.
“This contract is a vote of confidence in the advanced indirect fire solutions we provide.”
Earlier this month, the company also accepted a contract to supply precision munitions, radio and defense electronics systems, as well as maintenance services to an unnamed European country in a contract worth approximately $280 million.
“These contract extensions demonstrate our customers’ continued trust in our customised products and services, as well as the sustained demand for our market-leading solutions from customers across Europe,” said Elbit Systems president and chief executive officer Bezhalel Machlis.
