Rosoboronexport presents Russian-made Typhoon K-53949 mine resistant ambush protected vehicles for launch into the international market.

The MRAP vehicle features protection, reliability, and cross-country manoeuvrability for foreign markets, according to the Russian defence exporter company and Rostec State Corporation subsidiary in a public statement on 20 April.
The 4x4 or 6x6 Typhoon K-53949 can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h, is able to ford 1.5 metres without preparation, and climb 30-degree slopes with options for a 350hp or 450hp diesel engine.
It has a crew of two and personnel capacity of eight as well as featuring an onboard information management system, central tire inflation system, bulletproof tires, video surveillance system, automatic fire-extinguishing system, and a diesel auxiliary power unit.
For offence, it has options for remotely controlled weapon stations with stabilised armament and a rear hinged ramp for fast troop boarding and disembarking.
For defence, it has mine and ballistic protection (NATO STANAG 4569 Level 3-4), composite armour, add-on ceramic armour plates, removable anti-mine plates, blast absorbing elements, safety restraints for troop seats and potential for internal spall liners, hinged mats against anti-tank grenade launchers.
“Rosoboronexport presents to its partners an armoured vehicle of the Typhoon-K family assembled exclusively from Russian-made components,” said Rosoboronexport director general Alexander Mikheev.
“This vehicle has proven to be a reliable and highly protected personnel carrier. The Typhoon-K is in service with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and has substantiated its performance under actual operating and combat conditions.
“Moreover, many of Rosoboronexport’s partners are operating armoured vehicles based on this family of vehicles and give them positive feedback.
“This MRAP vehicle is of great interest for Middle Eastern, African, Latin American, Asia-Pacific and former USSR countries.
“Independence from foreign components in the production of the Typhoon-K gives us and our partners confidence in timely and complete after-sale service of the vehicles supplied, their modernisation and development.
“Rosoboronexport sees great interest from foreign customers and is ready to cooperate in the format of industrial partnership in the production of various versions of Typhoon-K vehicles, including localisation of their production.”
Similar vehicles have seen combat in the Russo-Ukraine conflict with Ukrainian Special Operations Forces reportedly using a remote detonated mine to destroy armoured Kamaz Typhoon in the Kerson region on 29 May 2022.
