The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) late last week to identify and deliver efficiencies to the Defence and the Commonwealth, including deploying new technologies and techniques to enhance defence estate management.
The general purpose vehicle MoU is designed for both companies to collaborate to identify efficiencies and technologies to support the ADF, drawing from Serco’s 40 years of experience working with allied Five Eyes nations and SAGE’s technology offerings.
It is hoped that the agreement will provide better value for money for Defence.
“Serco has more than 20 years’ experience supporting Defence Force base operations, with a clearly defined and continually refined management system that enables us to deliver services brilliantly across the entire Serco Global portfolio,” managing director of Serco Defence Clint Thomas said.
“Serco’s expertise is not just in management, but also in the technical delivery of services. We demand these same high standards in enabling technology that supports the continual improvement of our service delivery from product developers.”
According to a release from Serco, the agreement is expected to “reshape and remodel the defence estate portfolio”.
“Serco currently provides infrastructure, assets, products and services to the Commonwealth, which support Defence capability. We are familiar with the innovative products and capability that SAGE Automation brings to industry, together with their highly skilled workforce and leadership, I am excited about what we can achieve,” Thomas continued.
Adrian Spencer, chief operating officer at SAGE, welcomed the agreement, noting the value that the MoU will deliver to Defence.
“SAGE is delighted to be embarking on this collaborative program with Serco to bring together our specialist capability and broad defence experience to collectively deliver even greater value to Defence estate and infrastructure. We look for partnerships that create impact and see that this MOU with Serco will certainly deliver impact for our customers, our companies and our sovereign defence capability,” Spencer said.
“SAGE and Serco have a shared passion for making the future better. Together, we will develop price-performance ratio solutions that further sustain Defence Capability.”
It is expected that the pair will provide benefits to some 50 defence bases in Australia, including technical solution workshops.
