The Israel-based vehicle manufacturer Plasan Sasa has announced intentions to establish a local subsidiary in Australia to be named Plasan-Australia.

The Kibbutz Sasa communal village-owned company develops and manufactures vehicle armour systems, personal protection armour, and add-on armour for military vehicles and aircraft.

The company already has links in Australia through collaboration with Thales Australia for LAND 121 Phase 4 and eventual Hawkei program which had a cabin designed, tested, and produced by Plasan.

Plasan also collaborated with BAE Australia for the Hunter Class frigate by incorporating Australian armour steel by Bisalloy into Plasan’s survivability solutions.

“The long-term experience and substantial understanding of Australia defence strategic needs for the next decade, as well as the importance for Australia to acquire core and critical technologies and capabilities, have led us to decide to amplify our presence in Australia as well as to shift our supply chain to Australian industry to the widest possible extent,” said Plasan chief executive officer Dani Ziv.

“The establishment of Plasan-Australia will solidify this presence.”

It’s expected the establishment of Plasan-Australia will support the Australian Defence Force’s Phase 3 contracts.

The company has collaborated with Hanwha Defence Australia for the Huntsman and Redback infantry fighting vehicles developed for the LAND 400 Phase 3 program.
