Oshkosh selected for $104m Romanian heavy gun carrier sale

The US State Department has approved the possible foreign military sale of 95 heavy gun carrier joint light tactical vehicles to Romania in a deal worth $104 million.

The US State Department has approved the possible foreign military sale of 95 heavy gun carrier joint light tactical vehicles to Romania in a deal worth $104 million.

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of the possible sale of the joint light tactical vehicles (JLTVs) and related equipment on 14 March.

The request made by the government of Romania is in addition to a previous agreement for 34 HGC JLTVs, VRC-104 radio kits, equipment, turret materials, and program support worth $43.73 million.

“The proposed sale will improve Romania’s capability to meet current and future threats by providing a credible force that is capable of deterring adversaries and enhance its participation in NATO operations,” a US Statement Department spokesperson said.

“Romania will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment into its armed forces.

“The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.”

Oshkosh Corporation and Oshkosh Defense have been selected as the principal contractors.
