MMCLD will provide computer-based training to support Hanwha Defense Australia’s delivery of AS9 and AS10 vehicles under LAND 8116 Protected Mobile Fires.

Under the partnership, it is expected that MMC Learning and Development (MMCLD) will support the Hanwha Defense Australia training team to deliver a series of courses to the Commonwealth for the AS9 and AS10 introductions into service.
The courses are to be provided to Australian Defence Force operators and maintenance crews, and are scheduled to be delivered between 2026 and 2028.
The courses will be delivered through a distributed learning approach. According to a release from the prime contractor, this will enable participants to learn “when and where they need”.
The Sydney-based MMCLD has a long history partnering with Defence and law enforcement.
In 2021, Hanwha Defense Australia officially signed a contract with the Commonwealth for the supply of Huntsman AS9 self-propelled artillery systems to the Australian Army as part of the LAND 8116 Phase 1 program — a $900 million-$1.3 billion procurement of 30 AS9 Huntsman self-propelled artillery systems and 15 AS10 armoured ammunition resupply vehicles.
The Hanwha AS9 Huntsman is a bespoke design developed specifically for Australia, based on the K9 howitzer.
The Huntsman will be built with a 52-caliber 155mm gun system, in-service with multiple militaries around the world including NATO nations.
“Hanwha Defense Australia is partnering with MMCLD for the training solution for the Huntsman family of vehicles based on their strong record of performance in the sector,” Richard Cho, HDA’s managing director, said.
“Their track record in the Defence and law enforcement make them perfectly suited to the program.”
According to Cary Redstone, chief executive officer of MMCLD, the company welcomes the opportunity to support the Hanwha Defense Australia-led project.
