Australia listed in US special warfare assault kits contract

The US Department of Defense has announced a US$137,861,955 contract to develop and sustain the system-of-systems special warfare assault kit with General Dynamic Information Technology.

The single-award contract will support special warfare acquisition growth and refresh the Guardian Angel and tactical air control party modernisation programs, according to information released in contracts on 5 May.

The American aerospace and defence corporation will perform work in Ohio and complete the contract in June 2033.

Special warfare assault kit and communications systems are usually designed to attach to the body armour worn by defence personnel, in coordination with electronic devices such as GPS, radios, and tactical displays.

The contract involves foreign military sales to Australia, Bulgaria, India, Bahrain, Bosnia, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkiye, Estonia, Kenya, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and Latvia.

Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting activity.
