The new Australian Defence Force sidearm weapon system is comprised of the SIG P320 X-Carry Pro, SIG Romeo2 Red Dot Sight, and SIG Foxtrot 2 Weapon Light.
The announcement follows robust testing procedures carried out on the system since the contract was awarded in October and facilitates the weapon’s introduction into the Australian Defence Force.
The agreement makes Aquaterro the largest weapons supplier as part of the Commonwealth’s LAND 159 program.
The weapons systems will undergo their final manufacturing processes in Melbourne, which is set to include customer-specific engraving, an Aquaterro spokesperson explained.
The SIG P320s will be delivered to the Australian Defence Force via NIOA.
“We are thrilled that these systems are now lined up for production at SIG’s manufacturing facilities, and our team is prepped and ready for their arrival and clearance into Australia,” Graeme Bulte, founder and chief executive officer of Aquaterro, said.
“The extensive testing and evaluation conducted for the ADF program confirms the products have met the rigorous requirements of the ADF, and we can’t wait for them to begin to arrive at our facility in Melbourne towards the end of this year.
“We are proud of the combined work of our team and with the solid support from SIG, which is aiming to provide these weapons on budget and substantially ahead of schedule.”
Aquaterro, a wholly owned Australian company, is one of the nation’s largest providers of equipment to Defence and law enforcement agencies having delivered $150 million of equipment to Defence over the last seven years.
