The agreement, organised through Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, provides a counter-unmanned aerial system solution for the International Fund for Ukraine and includes delivery of software, spares, training and surveillance platforms.
The mobile counter-unmanned aerial system uses thermal and visual imaging with radar sensors to track UAS targets, before feeding that information to a remote weapons station to defeat the target.
“Teledyne FLIR is proud to partner with Kongsberg in delivering our next-generation Cerberus XL as part of a complete and robust system to protect Ukraine’s warfighters,” said Dr JihFen Lei, Teledyne FLIR Defense executive vice-president and general manager.
“We have a long history of providing state-of-the-art imaging solutions to Kongsberg and this important joint effort only strengthens our relationship.”
Teledyne FLIR is supplying Ukrainian forces with Black Hornet 3 personal reconnaissance nano drones through donations provided by the British and Norwegian governments.
It’s been more than one year since Russian troops crossed the Ukraine’s border on February 2022 and began the “special military operation” outlined by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As many as 354,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers have reportedly been killed or injured since the start of the conflict.
