Mellori, Raytheon partner to support delivery of EW Bushmasters

Mellori Solutions is partnering with Raytheon to provide training services for electronic warfare-enabled Bushmasters under the Australian Army’s LAND 555 Phase 6 project.

Under the agreement, Mellori Solutions will provide expert training services to members of the Australian Army for C5ISR Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOS) equipment and sensors.

The systems are essential for the delivery of the Force Level Electronic Warfare System (FLEWS-L) to the Australian Army’s 7th Signal Regiment.

In a statement, the company detailed that FLEWS-L is a critical enabler for the integration of the Australian Army into joint, allied, and coalition EW systems.

It is also expected to enhance the Army’s awareness of electromagnetic emissions and the spectrum on the modern battlefield.

Raytheon was selected for the rollout of the FLEWS-L project to the Australian Army in July 2022, to dominate the electronic environment.

“This is a great opportunity to work alongside Raytheon Australia on such a critical project,” Mellori Solutions general manager Dave Devine outlined.

“Our team is committed to delivering top-tier training for the EW systems that are vital for the Australian Army. This partnership not only highlights our expertise in the field but also our dedication to enhancing Australia’s defence capabilities.”

The development of a comprehensive EW capability is fundamental to Australia’s national security.

“Our involvement in the LAND 555 Phase 6 Program is about providing training that ultimately helps strengthen one of our nation’s key defence technologies. By enhancing the Australian Army’s expertise in modern-day EW, we are helping to make a safer, more secure Australia,” Devine continued.

“Through this project, Mellori Solutions is supporting the ADF and contributing significantly to the Australian defence industry. We are proud to be part of an initiative that bolsters our sovereign defence industrial base and fosters the growth of local skills and expertise.”

It was recently revealed that Mellori Solutions was invited to participate in the Raytheon Australia Capability Plus program, designed to support the continued development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Australian defence sector.

The project was awarded in July 2022 to enhance Australia’s ability to operate in the electromagnetic spectrum.

“The government is committed to increasing the ADF’s ability to operate and fight in complex electromagnetic environments,” Minister Pat Conroy said when announcing the project.

“This new capability will give our Land Force a better range of options to continue to pursue our interests in our region and deter, defeat, and deny attacks and threats against Australia.

“The project will complement air and maritime force level electronic warfare systems, further enhancing these capabilities when deployed in combination as a joint force.”
