Andrew Crickenberger has been appointed as chief growth officer at NIOA following a three-decade long career as a senior executive with multinational defence companies.
Based in the United States, Crickenberger will be tasked with leveraging opportunities in the global allied weapons and munitions sector, the company confirmed.
Prior to his work at L3Harris, he worked at Northrop Grumman for 25 years, including serving as VP strategy and business development for the missile products business unit.
NIOA Group chief executive officer Rob Nioa explained that the appointment will ensure that the company can deliver critical capabilities for Australia and its allies.
“We are thrilled to welcome Andrew to our executive team at a pivotal time in the next phase of our evolution as a global munitions company,” he said.
“Andrew brings vast experience in strategy development and execution which aligns perfectly with our company’s vision and global growth objectives.
“With Andrew’s leadership and deep understanding of missile systems, we are confident in our ambition to accelerate a broad range of critical munitions priorities for Australia and allied partners while also strengthening our domestic defence industrial base.”
The appointment comes as the company entered into an agreement with L3Harris Aerojet Rocketdyne to “explore” the co-production of guided weapons as part of the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Enterprise.
Crickenberger welcomed the opportunity to continue supporting NIOA’s international growth.
“Having worked in partnership with Rob and the NIOA team for nearly 15 years, it has been great to see the growth trajectory for the company,” he said.
“I am excited to join the team and lead the efforts to accelerate that growth in Australia, the US, and into new markets such as the UK and Canada.”
In early June, NIOA announced it has opened an office at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey, home to a workforce of over 6,000, the Joint Program Executive Office Armaments and Ammunition as well as the Combat Capability Development Command Armaments Center.
