Gamers out it again: Russian tank information leaked to mil-sim forum

Classified military documents have once again been posted online to prove a point in the forums of the popular military sim video game War Thunder.

Classified military documents have once again been posted online to prove a point in the forums of the popular military sim video game War Thunder.

This time, the documents were posted in a discussion comparing three Russian main battle tanks, the T-90M, T-90S, and T-80BVM, all of which are currently in Russian service and deployed to the Ukrainian front.

The documents in question were training manuals for the tanks, and though they did not contain any deep analysis of that vehicle’s hardware, they are nonetheless rated as classified. War Thunder’s forum admins and community managers have removed all the offending posts, but the gaming press noted that the documents remain in circulation online.

Amazingly, it’s the second such leak this week, after sensitive documents relating to the F-15 and F-35 jet fighters – originally leaked on Telegram by someone claiming to be a Russian pilot – were shared on the War Thunder forums.

The documents have since been removed from Telegram, but that cat is very definitely out of the bag now that gamers have gotten hold of the data.

In the last 12 months, gamers have shared classified or sensitive information on the Eurofighter Typhoon jet fighter, the AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter, the Chinese VT-4 main battle tank, and the M2A2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle.
