This initial four-year contract, which includes two two-year extension options, will see Saab deliver the maintenance, repair and provision of spares of the 84mm Carl-Gustaf M4 recoilless rifle, as well as operator and maintainer training for Australian Defence Force personnel.
Saab will provide assured, agile and timely provision of in-service support of the Carl-Gustaf M4 under the Short Range Anti-Armour Weapon (SRAAW) System support contract and drive growth through product roadmap updates and a framework for future acquisitions to enable capability enhancements.
Saab Australia managing director Andy Keough CSC welcomed the signing of this contract, saying, “As a sovereign provider with a demonstrated history in supporting Australia’s land domain, Saab’s local workforce, agility and unrestricted product access allows us to rapidly deliver speed to capability for the Australian Defence Force.”
Trusted by Australian troops for decades and supplied to more than 40 countries around the world, Saab’s Carl-Gustaf M4 is a man-portable, multi-role weapon system that allows dismounted soldiers to effectively manage multiple challenges on the modern battlefield.
“Demonstrated to deliver results on the battlefield, the Carl-Gustaf system is a combat-proven capability that ensures the effectiveness our soldiers need,” Keogh said.
Saab’s support for the Australian Army goes beyond advanced weapon systems, extending to ground-based air defence solutions, land force camouflage, battle management systems, and world-leading deployable health and infrastructure solutions.
