The event is hosted alongside the Land Forces 2020 event, which is presented by Industry Defence and Security Australia Limited.
CALFS is a biennial conference that "draws expertise from all over the world", and sees delegates present on a variety of topics.
The 2018 event covered the following issues:
- The Indo-Pacific: the region of global connection;
- Land power and countering violent extremism;
- Generating land power through partnering; and
- The character of future Indo-Pacific land forces.
The Department of Defence said, "CALFS and Land Forces 2020 bring together the Australian Army, local defence companies and their global defence industry partners to further collaborate and mature relationships with industry and demonstrate collective strengths and capabilities. CALFS 2020 will build on the success of CALFS and Land Forces 18, which included over 624 exhibitor companies from 26 countries."
CALFS and Land Forces 2020 will occur in September 2020 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“It is an exciting time for Army and the Australian Defence Force. CALFS and Land Forces are key events that will further enhance Army’s standing amongst our partners, friends and allies as well as provide the opportunity to collaborate on some of the strategic opportunities and challenges that we all face,” LTGEN Burr said.
