The personnel will form part of the 1st Brigade's Ready Battle Group (RBG), which provides the ADF with a "reliable, scalable and flexible option to respond to a range of operational contingencies at short notice".
Over the next year, 1st Brigade will deploy soldiers to "known theatres of operation" as the RBG remains "ready" in Adelaide to support these short notice contingencies.
The RGB may also be used to supplement other capabilities, including engineering, policing and logistics, depending on the mission required.
It's the first time 1st Brigade has assumed ‘Ready’ responsibility since 2017, with rotation of the capability throughout the Army's three combat brigades on a 12-month cycle.
