Defence Minister Linda Reynolds signed a standing offer deed with Western Australia-based Sea to Summit to provide $30 million worth of field equipment to the Australian Army.

Under the standing offer deed with Sea to Summit, the West Australian business will provide $30 million of equipment including shelters, sleeping bags, non-lethal force, adventure training, hand tools, and personal protective equipment to support ADF personnel both in Australia and overseas.

Minister Reynolds welcomed the announcement: "As a key defence industry partner, Sea to Summit is ensuring the Australian Defence Force is well placed to maintain leading-edge field equipment. This deed will help to make the ADF more effective – and that means making our service men and women safer."

The standing offer has an initial five-year term with three five-year options to extend.

Sea to Summit, a 100 per cent Australian owned company, has previously supported the ADF. The new deed will create up to nine more jobs for the Perth business.

"Under the Integrated Soldier Systems Project investments will also be made in Army’s ability to acquire the next generation of body armour, helmet and equipment carriage system, field equipment, combat flotation aids, and simulation and training systems," Minister Reynolds added.

Sea to Summit now has an unprecedented opportunity to work collaboratively with the Commonwealth to determine, design and supply the field equipment to be used by the ADF.

LAND 125 Phase 4 – Field Equipment seeks to deliver the largest update to the essential non-combat items that soldiers carry in-service since the Vietnam war (which ended some 45 years ago).

This program will ensure that field equipment items; such as sleep systems, cookware and navigation tools, are continuously updated and improved, meaning that the ADF will always be presented with the best and most innovative solutions that industry has to offer.
