The System Panzergrenadier, an integrated IFV comprised of the upgraded Puma and Rheinmetall’s Future Soldier system, has been approved for use in German military.

The Bundeswehr last Friday confirmed that Rheinmetall’s new System Panzergrenadier has been approved for service within the German military.
The System Panzergrenadier is made up of an upgraded Puma infantry fighting vehicle equipped with the expanded Future Soldier system.
The upgraded series of the Puma is a joint venture of Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, while the expanded Future Soldier system was created by Rheinmetall.
Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, Chief of the German Army, further advocated for the System Panzergrenadier to play a large role in NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force 2023.
Rheinmetall contends that the vehicle affords greater information sharing abilities than the current generatiensure on of Puma infantry fighting vehicles between both dismounted and mounted units. Further, the System Panzergrenadier equips fighting units and the vehicle with improved sensing equipment to improve target indication capabilities.
It is expected that 40 of the new infantry fighting vehicles will serve in NATO’s 2023 very high ready joint task force.
