American Rheinmetall Vehicles has confirmed that it has entered into a Master Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the US Army.

The agreement between the prime and the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center has established several research and development partnerships, including developing an integrated combat vehicle weapon as well as fire control and ammunition equipment.
The agreement is also expected to enable the partners to investigate the integration of the US Army’s XM913 50mm cannon onto Rehinmetall’s Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle, of which the prime has submitted a proposal for to the US Army’s OMFV Phase 2 program.
The partnership is also expected to enable the prime to deliver its expertise to other military services and international markets to develop armaments and solutions. According to a release by the company, such solutions are expected to include digital engineering, modelling, the design and development of prototypes for cannon mounts, vehicles system interfaces, protection systems, programmable munition lethality, robotics, logistics and manufacturing science.
Mike Milner, director for business development and strategy at American Rheinmetall Vehicles, outlined that the partnership would enable the prime to use their expertise to support the US Army’s future soldiers.
“This Master CRADA creates a tremendous opportunity to research, develop, and integrate the newest technologies into a modern fire control system for combat vehicles,” Milner said.
“Specifically, efforts on integration of the XM913 50mm cannon will provide transformational capability and overmatch for our future soldiers.”
