Rheinmetall has been contracted to deliver eight MLG27-4.0 systems to Damen Naval for use onboard Germany’s upcoming F126 class frigates.
Dutch shipbuilder Damen Naval has contracted Rheinmetall for the delivery of eight of the 27mm cal. MLG27-4.0 light naval gun systems for the F126 frigates currently under construction for the German Navy, with each vessel expected to house two of the weapons systems.
The contract is expected to be valued in the two-digit million-euro range, with the ability to be extended to two additional frigates.
The weapon is part of Rheinmmetall’s SeaSnake RCWS weapons family and is based on a remotely controlled BK-27M revolver gun. The system can fire up to 1,700 rounds per minute.
The system features enhanced daylight cameras, infrared systems, laser rangefinders with improved IT and OT security capabilities.
