EM Solutions will provide its Cobra X/KA tri-band Maritime Terminals and associated network infrastructure for the Navantia-built Auxiliary Oil Replacement (AOR) supply vessels.
The order comes after the successful deployment of the same Cobra platform on both Navy and Border Force Cape Class Vessels.
The Cobra terminal supports four connected modems, enables simultaneous communication at X and Ka bands, provides services on both military and commercial Ka band satellites and is in the final stages of certification for the WGS and Inmarsat GX networks.
EM Solutions chief executive Rowan Gilmore said this contract is the first the company will undertake under full Australian Standard for Defence Contracting (ASDEFCON) supply conditions.
"Demand for our Cobra and other on-the-move solutions has been very high in recent times, however this is the first project for these products we are managing under full ASDEFCON supply conditions," said Gilmore.
"This is a significant step forward for our business given the complexity and value of the solution we are supplying and the need to ensure we can support our prime contractor in delivering an exceptional outcome for the end user.
Gilmore added that contributing to a defence program of this calibre will aid the business' future growth plans.
"A program of this nature enables us to enhance our systems and processes for project delivery and future support and sustainment.," he said.
"The experience we will gain from working directly in this environment helps position our business for further future growth and we welcome the opportunity to deliver home grown capability to our end user and work hand-in-hand with our prime."
