Luerssen Australia has expanded its offices to Canberra to work more closely with Defence and the federal government.

The shipbuilder and subsidiary of Germany’s Naval Vessels Lürssen, announced it had established a base in the nation’s capital on 19 April.
Luerssen Australia chief executive officer, Jens Nielsen, said the company has teams in Perth, Melbourne, and Adelaide as it delivers 12 Arafura Class offshore patrol vessels for the Royal Australian Navy.
“As our employee numbers continued to grow, it was clear we needed to expand our footprint to provide greater support for our team and our customer,” said Nielsen.
“We are extremely proud to be continually growing our workforce and creating job opportunities for Australians.
“As we build strong foundations across Australia, we are demonstrating our commitment to being here for the long term.
“Luerssen Australia is passionate about helping create a sovereign shipbuilding capability in Australia.”
Earlier this month, Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister, Patrick Gorman, toured the companies’ shipbuilding facility in Henderson, Western Australia.
The briefing and shipyard tour was also attended by graduates from the Defence Industry Pathways Program.
