Adelaide’s Century Engineering has partnered with a SEA 5000 Future Frigates bidder to undertake joint development services for the vessel it has offered.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), Century Engineering will work on rudder arrangement and stowage locker innovation for Navantia's F-5000 frigate. Century Engineering has previously worked with Navantia on the Hobart class project.
Navantia Australia managing director Donato Martinez said the Adelaide company has already demonstrated its capabilities across naval shipbuilding, and the Future Frigates project will offer more opportunity to grow its skills in the sector.
"Century Engineering has a wide technical and commercial presence in Australia and will bring its significant skills and experience in Naval shipbuilding programs to the Future Frigate program," said Martinez.
"The experience, which Century has built as a supplier on the Hobart Class, will provide significant continuity between the Hobart Class and the F-5000, with opportunities for Australian companies such as Century to grow their business in naval shipbuilding."
In addition to work on the F-5000, Century will also support Navantia Australia in identifying areas of opportunity for potential internal stowage locker modifications to the Canberra Class amphibious ships and Hobart Class destroyers.
Century Engineering managing director David Heaslip said the Adelaide business is looking forward to the chance to expand on its partnership with the Spanish ship designer.
"This is an opportunity for Century to build on the experience we have gained and the capability we have developed through the Hobart Class program. We are delighted to now have the opportunity to partner with Navantia on the Future Frigates," he said.
The announcement comes a week after Navantia announced it would partner with Adelaide's SAGE Automation to supply the integrated platform management system (IPMS) for its Future Frigates bid.
