The strategic partnership agreement was announced at the Pacific International Maritime Exhibition in Sydney with South Australian Premier Steven Marshall.
The M80 Interceptor Sea Boat, a sovereign navy interceptor capability, has been fine-tuned over many years to optimise the balance between soft riding, rough water performance in any direction and calm water performance.
BMT Defence and Security managing director Peter Behrendt said, "BMT is excited to team up with a great South Australian company in Nautic Star to offer the M80 Interceptor vessel.
"Nautic Star has already supplied sea boats to the Australian Border Force, proving that local firms can offer world-leading capability for Australia’s defence and national security requirements. In addition to Australia, the M80 Interceptor Sea Boat is ready for international export, including to our key defence allies."
The M80 Interceptor is a 7.3-metre vessel suitable for a number of maritime requirements, including the Royal Australian Navy Armidale Class Patrol Boats.
BMT is an international design, engineering and risk management consultancy, working principally in the defence, energy and environment, marine risk and insurance, maritime transport, and ports and logistics sectors.
BMT is the world’s largest independent ‘five eyes’ naval architecture and design company, with the defence and security business based in Australia, the UK, Canada and the US.
