The Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment Ship System Program Office (AORSPO) Enterprise has secured International Standard (ISO) Certification (55001:2014) for Asset Management – Management Systems.
The certification was presented to the AORSPO by Rear Admiral Wendy Malcolm, head of maritime systems at the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), during a Clear Lower Deck at the Garden Island Defence Precinct, Sydney.
Navantia Australia’s managing director, Alfonso García-Valdés, said the achievement was the culmination of two years of collaboration between CASG and Navantia.
“This certification and the establishment of the Lifecycle Optimisation Program demonstrates the AORSPO Enterprise’s maturity and level of preparedness in meeting the challenges of introducing a new class of ship into service,” García-Valdés said.
The certification specifies requirements for a proactive lifecycle asset management system within the context of the AORSPO Enterprise — supporting the optimisation of assets and reducing the overall cost and associated risks of ownership to Defence.
The accreditation also enables the AORSPO Enterprise to meet the necessary performance and safety requirements.
The AORSPO Enterprise is a collaboration between the AORSPO, the Royal Australian Navy, and Navantia Australia, as part of a project to sustain the Navy’s new Supply Class auxiliary oiler replenishment ships (AOR) capability.
The Navy’s first of class AOR, NUSHIP Supply, is currently undergoing final fit-out in Western Australia, and is expected to be commissioned into service next year.
NUSHIP Stalwart is also expected to transit to Australia in 2021.
The AORs are designed to provide operational and logistics support for Australia’s armed forces, supporting humanitarian and disaster relief operations following a natural disaster.
