Naval Group Australia has confirmed the appointment of two board directors to support the company’s Future Submarine Program rollout.

Naval Group Australia has appointed two new members to its board, Jane Halton and Lilian Brayle, to support the roll out of the company’s Future Submarine Program.
According to a release by the company, both directors are expected to bring a wealth of experience across the public service and business to the board and ensure the successful execution of the submarine program.
Halton has previously served as the secretary of the Departments of Finance and Health, and had also served as the deputy secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Meanwhile, Brayle served as the Naval Group vice president for the Australian Future Submarine Program, having been appointed to the position in 2021.
David Peever, chairman of Naval Group Australia, commented that the duo will bring critical knowledge to support the roll out of the program.
“The Attack Class project has made significant progress since Naval Group was selected by the Commonwealth as its international partner for the Future Submarine Program,” Peever noted.
“The board is fully committed to meeting the requirements of the Commonwealth and to jointly delivering a new and advanced fleet of submarines, while creating hundreds of Australian jobs.
“Naval Group is continuing to develop the national supply chain for components and equipment that will be included in the submarines, which is boosting Australia’s sovereign defence capability.
“Jane Halton is an exceptional Australian. The Naval Group Australia board looks forward to working with her, and continuing to deliver the advanced capability that Australia requires.”
Halton welcomed the opportunity to support the program.
“The Attack Class project is an important program for Australia's future security, and I'm excited to join the growing local team as we approach the next exciting milestones,” Halton said.
Currently, over 2,000 businesses have expressed interest to work with Naval Group Australia via the Naval Group Australia Industry Capability Network portal.
