Defence industry primes are partnering up to deliver E-XX TACAMO solution to contact US strategic forces.
Northrop Grumman Corporation will cooperate with Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, Raytheon Intelligence & Space, Crescent Systems, and Long Wave on the project, according to a public announcement on 3 April.
The US Navy E-XX TACAMO fleet of aircraft will be based on the extended version of the C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft, to modernise and replace a current fleet of E-6B airborne command aircraft.
The new E-XX aircraft will connect the National Command Authority with ballistic submarines capable of delivering nuclear weapons, US strategic and non-strategic forces.
“Together, our team has vast knowledge and expertise in delivering critical command and control, and nuclear enterprise capabilities,” said Northrop Grumman multi-domain command and control capture programs director Henry Cyr.
