Lockheed Martin Rotary Mission Systems has selected Newcastle specialist training company Milskil to deliver a range of F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) training services at the RAAF Williamtown F-35 Lightning II JSF Integrated Training Centre.

The company is now expanding its training workforce to support this program, seeking to hire maintenance instructors covering aircraft, their systems and IT, software and hardware configuration specialists, training support and logistics staff.
Milskil said it looks forward to playing a key role in the introduction and sustainment of this important capability into the RAAF, with former defence personnel with a background in aerospace maintenance and instruction welcomed as part of a concerted recruitment drive.
“Milskil is now expanding its training workforce to support this program,” said Milskil managing director John Lonergan. “[We have] been providing operational training to the RAAF’s Air Combat Group for over 15 years and welcome this opportunity to be able to expand its training services to the F35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter as an integral member of the Lockheed Martin team.”
The first two of 72 F-35 aircraft are scheduled to arrive in Australia in December with the with the full fleet in service by the end of 2023. They will be based at RAAF bases at Williamtown in NSW and Tindal in the Northern Territory.
Milskil, an Australian-owned firm, was founded in 2001 and provides a range of specialist training services for the Australian Defence Force, government and commercial clients. It currently provides training services on the RAAF’s F/A-18 Classic Hornet, F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler at RAAF bases at Williamtown, Tindal and Amberley in Queensland.
With the older Hornets set to remain in service for a number of years, Milskil is still seeking to hire former Australian or US defence personnel with qualifications of weapons officer or instructor pilot, according to its website.
