As part of the five-year contract, ATS will provide the Australian Defence Force with “leading edge” live fire target systems and provide ongoing target support services at Defence training ranges across the country.
This ongoing support will also extend to live fire land target systems to support deployed Defence personnel overseas.
Minister for Defence Industry Pat Conroy said, “Australian Target Systems has been an important defence industry partner for many years with a strong history in the delivery and support of target systems to the Australian Defence Force.”
The highly sophisticated target systems provided by ATS serve as a critical component of the development of individual and collective combat shooting skills and are continually evolving to make live fire training as realistic as possible.
“This contract underscores the Albanese government’s commitment to supporting Australia’s defence industry, and in particular, working with smaller companies, to help them grow while also creating jobs for locals,” Minister Conroy added.
Australian Target Systems is a wholly veteran-owned company and already employs several veterans, with this contract helping to secure 43 jobs and create an additional 11 positions at ATS, helping the innovative company grow while also supporting the local community.
Minister Conroy said, “The Defence Strategic Review recognises that Australian defence industry plays a vital role in equipping and sustaining the ADF, contributing to the economy and regional stability.”
