Proximity, a Defence Industry Security Program member, has previously assisted Defence with multibillion-dollar capital acquisition and sustainment projects and ICT projects.
Company clients in Defence include the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, Chief Information Officer Group, Defence Legal, Navy Training Force, Materiel Procurement Branch, Non-Materiel Procurement Branch, Associate Secretary Group, Joint Health Command, Defence Member, and Family Support.
As an expert adviser, Crisp is expected to lead major business transformation initiatives and taskforces, undertake governance, organisational and operational reviews, and set strategic direction to deliver tangible client results.
Crisp has accumulated more than 30 years of experience with the Victoria Police and has previously served as a deputy commissioner of regional operations at Victoria Police, as Victoria Emergency Management commissioner, and as a peacekeeper with the Australian Federal Police in East Timor.
He was awarded the Australian Police Medal during the 2012 Australia Day Honours and is a Member of the Order of Australia in 2022.
Elizabeth Langdon, Proximity Victorian public sector lead, speaking about the appointment in March, said Crisp was appointed due to his proven ability to lead and influence at a state, national, and international level, as well as his pragmatic approach to problem solving.
“With an impressive career, a long list of awards, and exceptional leadership qualities, we’re thrilled to welcome Andrew into our rapidly growing Victorian team,” said Langdon.
“As an Australian-owned company and government-first provider of multidisciplinary services, Andrew joins Proximity’s team of highly accomplished experts, each with a unique expertise to service a range of bespoke client needs.
“We have absolute confidence that Andrew will make a significant contribution to the work we do and greatly benefit our clients.”
Crisp, acting as Victoria’s Emergency Management commissioner, has previously led reforms of the restructure of Emergency Management Victoria, establishment of Emergency Recovery Victoria, and implementation of the 24/7 specialist workforce at the State Control Centre.
“Proximity is known in the industry for solving challenges with integrity and enabling clients to go further,” Crisp said.
“The organisation’s values of genuine people, bold approach, and helpful outcomes really resonated with me and I’m looking forward to generously sharing my experience and knowledge with the team and Proximity’s clients to achieve exceptional results for government and the community.”
In the role, he won’t hesitate to challenge the status quo and drive change that will realise transformative outcomes for clients and community, he said.
