Minister for Defence Industry Pat Conroy officially unveiled the annual collection of defence industry export-ready products, previously known as the Australian Defence Sales Catalogue, 3 on April.
The catalogue, which showcases a variety of products and services from every state and territory, has reportedly garnered more than 300 Australian defence industry businesses this year, up 20 per cent compared to the previous edition.
The online document also outlines some Australian Defence Force surplus equipment available for sale under government-to-government agreements. In particular, the document details Australian Light Armoured Vehicles (known as ASLAV and based on Canadian LAV25 vehicles, phased withdrawal from 2020) and Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles (planned for phased withdrawal from 2030) available for export.
Minister Conroy said the bumper edition of the catalogue reinforces the federal government’s commitment to supporting local defence industry businesses to access global markets and integrate Australian ingenuity into global supply chains.
“It’s great to see so many Australian businesses promoting their products, services and technologies on the world stage, which will create jobs and help build our local defence industry,” he said.
“The record number of 302 companies participating in the 2024 catalogue also highlights that industry and the Albanese government have a shared vision for growing exports.
“The catalogue underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting local defence industry to export Aussie defence technology and capability to the world, which further strengthens our sovereign defence industry.”
All exports of controlled goods and technology are subject to assessment process in accordance with Australia’s Defence Export Control legislation.
“Exporting Australia’s defence technology and capability to international markets strengthens our defence industrial base,” Minister Conroy said.
“The catalogue has been renamed to reflect the government’s commitment to promote exports and showcase Australian ingenuity in global supply chains.
“The catalogue includes a section on government support to defence industry companies via the Australian Defence Export Office - including Team Defence Australia, Office of Defence Industry Support, Defence Export Controls, Export Finance Australia, and Austrade.
“The catalogue also highlights platforms that are either surplus to ADF requirement or will shortly retire from service. Interested foreign governments are encouraged to contact the Australian Defence Export Office to discuss suitability for their capability requirements.
“The government is committed to building sovereign industrial capability by driving export opportunities for Australian defence industry and encouraging opportunities to embed industry into the global supply chain. Enhancing defence industry opportunities means that businesses can scale up, create more jobs and greater economic prosperity for Australia.”
