ADA wins ADF load carriage equipment contract

Australian Defence Apparel (ADA) has been awarded a contract to supply the Australian Defence Force with additional Load Carriage Equipment.

Australian Defence Apparel (ADA) has been awarded a contract to supply the Australian Defence Force with additional Load Carriage Equipment.

The contract utilises an existing deed arrangement, which sees the Victoria-based company to continue to supply the ADF with leading-edge equipment and modernised capability for their personnel.

"This investment reinforces the Australian government’s continued commitment to ensure that our warfighters remain the best equipped in the world," a release from Defence said.

The load carriage equipment optimises soldiers' mobility while carrying mission essential equipment.

The equipment comprises:

  • Modular belt webbing/load carriage harness;
  • Modular tiered body armour system;
  • Load carriage packs issued to each soldier contingent based on their role/specialisation;
  • Assault packs;
  • Pouches for carrying mission essential equipment; and
  • A carryall for transporting the soldier combat ensemble.

Recently, the ADF has seen the delivery of modernised capability for the individual soldier.

This has included enhancements to items such as body armour, combat helmets and individual load carriage equipment.

The individual soldier system with this collective equipment is known as the Soldier Combat Ensemble.

This is part of the continuous sustainment and modernisation of soldier load carriage equipment, evolving it to respond to emerging threats to the ADF combatant.
