The companies have partnered in a bid to enhance their collective offering to defence industry.

Serco Australia and GHD have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), aimed at delivering a new, “environmentally balanced” approach to the Defence Estate.

According to Serco Defence managing director Clint Thomas AM, CSC, the MOU would focus on efficiency and sustainability.

“Serco and GHD share a vision for thought leadership and helping industry respond to environmental concerns and liveability for future generations,” he said.

“Through this innovative alliance, we hope to benefit communities by rethinking and reshaping Defence precincts and, by combining innovation in design and service delivery, addressing 21st century operational, environmental and societal drivers.

“Our alliance with GHD will allow us to actively pursue innovative processes and technologies to reshape and remodel the Defence Estate, creating shared, multidisciplinary and sustainable business and lifestyle precincts.”

Serco is expected to leverage its experience with Defence Force base operations, with GHD to support the integration of technology into design and sustainability.

“By bringing those domains together, we hope to improve the efficiency of Defence base operations and help create a partnership toward a brighter future,” Thomas added.

GHD Defence sector leader Damian Drain welcomed the opportunity to work with Serco to develop the new approach.

“Through our complementary mindset and approach, this alliance will integrate each of our respective unique skills with a view to delivering lasting benefit to the Commonwealth through a Defence estate that is sustainable and liveable for generations to come,” Drain said.
